Council Member Peter F. Vallone Jr., Assemblyman Michael Ginnaris, LICA (Long Island City Alliance) representative Costa Constantinides and concerned citizens joined in a "Save Our Subway" Rally January 5th at the Astoria Ditmars' subway station.
Angry Astoria residents protested the MTA's announcement calling for reduced services, higher fares, cuts to the Student MetroCard and the elimination of the W Line.

MTA get your act together! Astoria faces a large population increase as a result of new zoning proposal and the recent development boom. Cuts to basic services at a time when there will be an increase in demand does not make sense.
MTA Be Fair! Cutting reduced fare MetroCards for NYC's school children will pose a terrible economic hardship for students and their families.
Think! Residents demand that the MTA rethink its budget proposal and come up with a plan that is fair to the residents of Astoria and NYC.
